Thursday we had parent-teacher conferences for both boys. The kids got to play downstairs in the after-care room while the teachers filled our heads with hot air telling us how wonderful our boys are. Mason is right on track for first-grade readiness (we're not sending him to first grade) and apparently has a knack for math. At home I worry about his writing skills, but at school Miss Rose says he signs every piece of work with "Mason Anthony Edison". I had no idea he could even spell his whole name, let alone write it. Ashton's teacher showed us video of Ash in action in the classroom, and the difference a year makes is astounding. He is the big kahuna in the classroom, the helper of the little guys, the know-it-all. He really owns his space and is so comfortable in the toddler room. I love that his school experience gives him the opportunity to be the one in charge and build up his confidence, because at home he is always the bossee, never the bosser.
Sean and I had a date night planned, but our babysitting plans fell through. We need to broader our babysitter pool, if anyone has any good ones they'd like to share. If we can't find any other options It's Friday-night bouncing for us.
