Under Quarantine

Mr. Mason has pink eye, and he is milking it for all its worth. Today was a great day, pink eye or no, we got to spend a lot of time together, me and my little guy. Mase and I got dressed after Dad and Ash left for school and went to The Daily Grind for coffee (bad today), hot chocolate with whipped cream, and a muffin. We took our provisions to the Kiwanis park and had a mini-picnic together. Mason dumped the hot chocolate (oh, darn) after only a few sips, and we both smelled as sweet as cookies for the rest of the morning. We tested the swings to make sure they were still working, and spent the remainder of our visit sitting on the bank of the river tossing in whatever detritus was at hand. I managed to make a stone skip in the running water, and we found a seashell, of all things. We just talked and talked, discussing the possibility of alligators, pink eye symptoms, different splash noises and more. Before we knew it, it was time to go get Ashton from school. We buzzed home and made Ash a quick snack, Mason was so pround to pick it out and give it to him!
After naptime we played on the slip and slide, with the water table, and caught bubbles upon bubbles. I even got into my suit AND slipped-&-slid. Very funny, glad not to have an audience for that! We chased each other with the hose and tried to ambush neighbor Sam, but he was one step ahead of us all afternoon. We just got back from a long walk around the loop to start dinner (Mexican Breakfast Tacos & corn muffins, fantastic!) and I think the boys are going to sleep pretty well tonight. I love days like this, the early summertime when the heat is still so new and feels so good, popsicles and green grass, swimsuits and tired little boys. Bring on the cookouts and beer, we are happy to have summer as a friend.

It is so hard to walk past your house and not stop to play. We can't wait until Mase it better.
