little lifeguard We had a full-to-the-top kinda day today. The boys went to the kids club while I worked out and then we headed over to Island Park for a playdate. The weather was gorgeous, windy but still beautiful. We met some new buddies at the park whose moms were old acquaintances of mine in college. (everyone is all grown up now!). I got my baby fix holding Lia while Mase ran around with Jack and the gang. Ash kept me on my toes, he is a climber and hasn't learned to be afraid yet. Scary combo.
After we came home and had a nap, we packed up and went to the pool with Peyton and Brennan. It was warm, but the wind made it chilly, and we didn't last long in the water. The kids all had purple lips from the cold and red eyes from the chlorine. The boys did more eating than swimming, we even stopped at the spotted cow on the way home. (we thought of you Bren!) Ashton's line of the evening was "My Dip! My Dip!" as he hogged all of the veggie dip at the table.
It was so pleasant outside that we set up bucket "bases" in the backyard and played kickball until after bedtime. The grass is long and soft, and running around in it barefoot felt so wonderful! I taught Mason how to give Ash an underdog on the swings, which he did over and over and over. It reminded me of Uncle Derk giving me underdogs on the tire swing in our backyard when we were little. awwww.
The only negative spot in the day was our trip to Meijer. The boys were good, and I was teaching Mason how to do the U-scan self checkout. When we got to the part where you swipe your credit card, I opened my wallet and realized that my credit cards and cash were in my back jeans pocket. At home. I was embarrassed, and Mason's shrill: "But why don't you have any money mommy?" didn't help.
