Soccer Tot

Today the boys had a great time playing in the sprinkler in the backyard- that's right, the sprinkler. It's springtime and the sun was playing hide and seek, but they ran through the water until they had goosebumps and bluish lips. They screeched and laughed, chased the dog, made a water slide and threatened to lay their cold little hands on me and Mimi. After they got cleaned up and fed we headed out to soccer and swimming.
Ash had a wonderful time playing soccer, until his coach came and it was time to start actually doing the drills. He tripped, he fell, he cried, he sat on the ball and refused to play. Repeat that more times than you would think possible in a half hour and that was the first tot soccer. Fortunately Ash's beloved buddy Logan was on his team, unfortunately he was even less inclined to play than Ash was. As soon as Ashton's body catches up with his ambition he will have a great time; he wants so badly to play like Mason but just can't seem to get the message from his brain to his feet. We're trying to get him to just enjoy playing outside with his buddies, hopefully he'll remember that part next week.
Swimming went much more smoothly (and requires almost no parent-interaction, so was also less frustrating) and Sean had Ash asleep by the time Mason and I got home.
