I have been too tired at the end of the day to update, Ash's sleeping habits are our own personal nightmare. He is going down O.K. now, but gets up frequently throughout the night. A couple of nights ago Sean found Ash sleeping on the couch in the living room, and he often makes his way into our room to climb in our bed or snuggle the yoga pillows at the foot of it (which would be fine if he slept). Mix this with his refusal to take naps, and you get a cocktail called "overtired and cranky toddler". So, not only is he unpleasant during the day, but my patience is fried.
We went to Ypsi to visit uncle Jerome yesterday, and spent a few hours at the Hands on Museum. The boys love it, and Rome was remembering his own experiences there when we were kids (???I have no recollection of this???). After the museum we went to Yotsuba for dinner, and it was excellent! The boys were a handful, cranky after being in the car forever because of the *&^%$ traffic and cranky from lack of sleep. Mason promptly dumped a glass of ice water on Jerome's lap, and then teased him about it the entire rest of the meal. He thought he was pretty funny, because the waitress couldn't help but laugh after Jerome's reaction. Ash just acted a fool the whole time, putting his napkin on his head and climbing around under the table. Ashton refused to eat much, and his dinner consisted of two slurps of miso soup and one clump of pickled ginger when all was said and done. (I'm up for mom-of-the-year at this point). Mason, however, ate like a champ-- gobbling sushi in a way I imagine is uniquely American.
Today we are flying solo, Dad/Sean is at the game until after bedtime. Mason is sleeping, Ash is not. Tomorrow we will have another go at football. We play the Lions, which is Mason's friend Caden's team. I already have my fingers crossed that it will be a more positive experience this week. Keep your crossed for us too!
