Freezing our buns off

We are cold, but at least we are all staying well. (knock on wood) The boys were not happy to miss school yesterday, Mason actually cried when we told him it was closed. I took both boys to the gym with me, and Ashton stayed in underpants all day with no problems. He loved being in the kids club, because Miss Naomi (who worked in the toddler room) was working there. We got to meet her new baby Zachary, who was 9lbs, 13oz at birth! Mason just loved the fact that Shrek was playing in the kids club, and he could sit and veg in front of it. It was nice taking the boys home with me, but felt less and less nice as the afternoon wore on. When our cabin fever reached my limit we headed out to the good old library. Both boys had a great time doing puzzles and playing with puppets, and I got to read in relative peace.
I have been keeping close watch of our thermostat in an effort to conserve and lower our heating costs (ala Mrs. Chicken). I can't claim to have been as successful as some of the participants in her challenge, but we did lower our heat bill by $40.00 this month. Just that little triumph has made me reluctant to turn the dial up, even in weather like this. Today we are waiting for Meems to come visit, snuggled up in lots of layers. The valentines for school came in the mail today, along with a magnetic pirate dress-up-guy. Those two things are keeping us busy and helping us to forget how chilly the house is.
