We get our eggs from a patient of Sean's, she usually brings us two dozen a week for $1.00 a dozen- a hard deal to beat. This week she brought in an extra dozen made up of irregular eggs that she thought the boys would enjoy coloring. About seven of the eggs were absolutely gigantic, probably triple-yolkers. The lid of the egg carton wouldn't come close to closing over these mammoth guys. The other five eggs were eensy-weensy, and are only egg white inside. I had no idea that all egg-white eggs existed, they would probably sell pretty well at the grocery store to those who don't like the mess of separating eggs for recipes or health conscious consumers. The boys loved them, and very gingerly played with them.
It seems strange that St. Patrick's day and Easter are so close together this year, but the boys are excited nonetheless. Mason has been hard at work doing easter-themed dot-to-dots and mazes all afternoon. We are going to (tentatively) attend the egg-"hunt" put on by the city and then celebrate Easter itself with a nice brunch that nobody has to cook. I have to admit that the baskets are pretty sparse this year, a book each and a few other goodies is all. Nothing like the baskets we had growing up, full of every kind of candy imaginable and often stuffed animals and pajamas too. Somehow I don't feel guilty though, it might be because the boys have enough of everything already. This fact has become even more painfully clear as I struggle to fit all of their things in one room and ship the excess to the basement. Yesterday as I was hanging up Ashy's shirts I briefly considered just buying five of the same shirts in the same color for each boy and making them wear them all the time. Like a play-clothes uniform. It would save so much space!
Individuality be damned.
