Skeeters

The mosquitoes are driving us mad! Ashton looks like a teenager, his face covered in red bumps. The boys and Grandpa and I took a walk this evening, and it was a full-time job keeping the little blood-suckers away from Blake. Ash and I made a game out of swatting them away-- only Mase escaped being eaten, because he was so much faster biking than we were walking.
We had a loooooong day today, even though it was one of Sean's half days he was gone for most of it between gym time and meetings. I was ready to lock the boys outside by 9:30 a.m., when they had been up for 3 and a half hours already and I had yet to brush my teeth or get a cup of coffee.
We spent the morning building and rebuilding forts, and the afternoon watching The Wizard of OZ. I thought the boys might be frightened of the flying monkeys like I was when I was a child, but they thought the Wiz himself was pretty creepy. The monkeys didn't bother them a bit. I love watching my old favorites with the boys, but they always look so different twenty years later. I never thought so when I was little, but Judy Garland looks way to old for the Dorothy role (how old is she supposed to be, anyway??). Mason said "Mom, is she an adult?" No honey, she's a girl. "Why is she as big as all of the adults then?" Good question. He is very perceptive, (Is that a real lion? A man can't be made out of tin!") and doesn't suspend disbelief well. Either that, or the Wiz just can't hold a candle to today's cinematography. The munchkins weren't the draw that they were when I was young either. I remember singing the lollipop guild song over and over, but the boys were more interested in the witches. They took turns playing Dorothy and The Wicked Witch of the West after the movie was over. Mase would douse Ash with a pretend bucket of water and then Ash would 'melt', and vice versa.
The kids had fun with Grandpa, and are looking forward to fair rides and games tomorrow. They fell asleep quickly tonight, which was a blessing. Now if I could only figure out how to get them to sleep in past 6....

P.S. I just finished reading THIS, it was his funniest yet- read it, read it!

even funnier than Me Talk Pretty One Day? Because that book still cracks me up every single time!

I thought it was funnier, I annoyed Sean by reading passages out loud every time I picked it up. Now I wish I would have bought it instead of borrowed.
