Holiday weekends are wonderful, sometimes even more so when they aren't over-scheduled. We spent our holiday at home, for the most part. It has been nice and relaxing, with a family cookout, the sprinkler, and some homemade popsicles. The boys ventured out Saturday for Brianna's big party, and I missed them even while enjoying some quiet snuggle time with Blakers. To hear Mase and Ash tell it, I missed one heck of a party. They emptied their goody bags to show me their new treasures, and told me all about swimming, jumping on the trampoline, and (most importantly) the cupcakes and ice cream.
Today Blake is three weeks (!) old, and tomorrow is when he was due to be born. I can't imagine him still being inside me, especially with the nice double chin he's been working on. He still seems so new to me, but at the same time feels like he's been a member of our family forever already.
I'm excited to get out a little more, today we took all three boys downtown. We walked around town and window shopped before getting adjustments and then heading back home. Being out with all of the boys is fun, we got a lot of comments from friendly strangers. Fortunately they were all of the "How-wonderful-little-boys-are-so-precious" variety instead of the "Oh-you-poor-things-you-must-have-your-hands-full!" variety. The latter comment annoys me; because little girls, at least the ones I know, can be just as active, mischievous, and ornery as little boys. Going out as a family did make it very clear that we will never get out of the house quickly again, however. And also that we need to plan for every trip taking twice as long as it should. It felt like this: Walk walk walk, stop to nurse Blake, walk, stop to change a diaper, walk walk, Ash has to go to the bathroom, wa-, now Mason does too, walk walk, both boys are thirsty, walk walk walk, Ashy falls and skins his knees, walk walk, Mason! don't climb up the store window!!! Even with that rhythm I was happy to be outside and moving around. Blake and I are going to be walking a lot for the next two weeks while the bigs are in camp, I love the new stroller and can't wait to put some serious miles on it.
Meet up with us!
