Ashy got his first birthday gift in the mail yesterday, and we have had fishing fever ever since. He has a rod, a lure, a worm, and a flopping fish that he can "catch" magnetically. (Thank you, Uncle Derk and Aunt Arika!) Predictably, this is now the most coveted toy in the house. We fish before bed, we fish before breakfast, we fish before leaving for school. I tried to play along when Mason was the fisherman, telling him "Wow bud, you got a big one, he's a big son-of-a-gun". Mase looked at me as if I were a moron and said "It's a FISH, Mom, not a somavagum". How did I get so stupid? The older I get the less intelligent I am, apparently.
We did have soccer practice yesterday, a very cold, long practice. Mason has his first game Saturday at 10:30, after Ashton's music class at 9. It will be a busy, busy morning for me, because Sean is away at a seminar all day.
We have got birthday fever here, every day Ash runs through the list of friends he's hoping will come to his party, ending with a little song: "It's birfday time, it's birfday time". Tomorrow we will bring his kitchen up and let him open it before school, then take him out to eat at En Japanese and play at Major Magic's to celebrate in the evening. Tomorrow will be the last day for the binkys, at our house the cut-off is three years old. Cross your fingers for us!
