Soaking wet soccer star

Mason had his first soccer game today, in nasty drizzly rain and chilly wind. I thought they would cancel, but no such luck.We headed right from Ashton's music class over to the soccer field, and Ash and I tried to protect ourselves from the elements as best as we could while watching Mason play. At first I was tempted to sneak off to the car and watch from a warm, comfortable distance, but I figured if Mason was playing in this weather, the least I could do was sit through it. Mase played hard, and was ecstatic the entire game. He had an enormous grin pasted on his face, and he ran, ran, ran after the ball. I really loved watching him (I was so proud!) and realized halfway through the game that I might be "that mom", you know, the one who is constantly yelling and cheering for her kid, even though these are five-year-olds who don't run in the right direction half of the time. I probably earned a couple of eye-rolls, but Ash cheered right along with me, and we had fun despite the crappy weather. I was going to treat the boys to "Horton Hears a Who" after a nap, but glancing at the calendar I realized that the birthday party marathon continues today, and we have Caden's sixth birthday party to attend. Good thing I already have a gift!

This is a video of the first (and only) practice the team had before today's game:
