The boys were like little monkeys today, so much so that I keep getting that theme song stuck in my head "Hey, hey we're the monkees, people say we monkey around..." you either know it or you don't. So many things are popping up that seem nostalgic lately. The Get Smart movie is coming out, and I found this great channel on XM that plays all of the songs I loved from Weezer, Incubus, Nirvana, Better than Ezra, and all of those bands that I loved back when I had a lot of time to love music. Who remembers "Brimful of Asha" by Cornershop??? I was delighted to keep running across all of these great memories, until I realized that it's not a big coincidence, I am just getting old. When you have a radio channel officially dedicated to playing music from your "generation" (they call it music from just over a tenth of a century ago on the LUCY channel) and movies are being made based on old sitcoms you used to watch, you have arrived in the land of the old, the parent, the no-longer-youthful-and-exciting. I'm still digesting this realization, because two kids and a (big) bun in the oven I may have, but in my head I'm still college-age and cool. Reality Bites. ha!
