too....much...cake...

Yesterday was wonderful all around, inauguration excitement (Mase wanted to know if Bush was sad) cake-baking and party planning. The big boys donned aprons and helped make the requested German chocolate cake (from scratch!). They were right there assisting with each and every step, from mixing to frosting, and of course, eating. We pulled out all the stops for grandpa, who turned 59. He had a party hat, noisemakers, some gifts, and two very enthusiastic boys serenading him. The cake was absolutely divine, I think the best we've ever made.
Now we have a challenge on our hands: to make papa's cake equally tasty. Fortunately we have a few days to cleanse our palates, because I'm all caked out.
Tomorrow I get to read in Mrs. Linda's class again, and I think The Sneetches by Dr. Suess is the front runner right now. Blake will come and listen too, because the teachers like to scoop him up whenever they get a chance.
