Here is my super soccer hero Mason offering me beautiful flowers to adorn myself with. I was flattered, until I saw that just about everything else adorn-able had already received his magic touch. Abby has a flowered collar, Ash flowered jammies, the poop-shovel a flowered handle. He suggested I put my flowers in my shirt. Mase had another great game today, the Galaxy won 8-0. The kids on his team play hard, except for the lone little girl Mary, who was practicing her karate moves on the referees.
Ash has succumbed to the evil pink eye. This means he is still irritable but no longer content to rest and recuperate. I have been hunting down home remedies and was surprised at the results. People will put all manner of horrific sounding stuff in their eyes in search of relief. One poster even swore that a couple of drops of LEMON juice, straight out of a lemon, will clear up the infected eye speedily. I can imagine the howling sounds Ash would make should I try to squeeze a lemon into his eyes. Another suggested a mixture of boiling water, honey and...SALT. Um, O.K. Anything non-burning???
We have been kicking around the house today trying to entertain ourselves while avoiding contact with other humans (to avoid infecting them). Sean had his Kentucky Derby Golf Tournament today, and Grandpa came over to spend some time with the boys and help give me some relief. We rented goo-gobs of movies to pull through the infectious stage, and tonight we watched The Waterhorse. This one was a winner all around, all four of us enjoyed it, and it held the attention of both kids throughout the film. The little boy's name in the film is Angus, which Grandpa then suggested as an option for our baby-name-list. It's a cute name if you were a Scottish boy way back when (with a really cool accent), not so much as an American boy now. Angus only means some kind of cow or beef to me, not a lifelong label for my youngest child. We search on.
